Sure, I did it many times, but WiFi uses much more power both in PC and in the phone. It also has longer range so is inherently less secure. Therefore while travelling I prefer to use Bluetooth rather than WiFi. My original question was explicitly about Bluetooth anyway. – Pawel Debski Aug 5 '17 at 12:00

In Samsung android phones, there is an option of Bluetooth tethering besides tethering through USB and Wi-Fi. It does the same job as them but it has its own advantages.
