You have to make a new local account and link that to the new ID instead. I don't think I was updating an account, I was creating an entirely new one. With a new and different e-mail address as well.

Feb 02, 2020 · Thought I would show this fix I found for anyone having a issue with signing into there PSN account on PC. I get we can use the mobile app or just use our PlayStation to sign in but what about PC.

After verifying my Identity, I went to log in and it asked for numbers from my PSN which I no longer have (assuming it was the same one before). The help page said to phone, but couldn't get through so clicked block on and received an email saying I have requested a new PSN. All other titles - including Battlefront, PvZ GW and general PSN-based games all work. SpeedTest shows 141Mbps download and 12Mbps upload, with low ping. Am able to get onto PSN and the store.
